I publish today the sketches of the second part of my project of 7 large paintings illustrating the « Cycle of Abraham ».
The image of Saraï is not completely clear in my mind, at this very moment.
I remind you that the first name of Sarah was « Saraï » in the Bible: it was her first name before the Alliance. I have chosen the period between the exit of Egypt, the return in the Canaan country, and the revelation of the Alliance.
The thing which blocks me now – it is not a real stop in fact- is the wish to paint Saraï as a jewel of beauty and of perfection.
I feel that her dress must be absolutely « impossible » in the real world… I work a lot on the volutes of her dress, with the objective to find this impossible perfection. And because it is not enough sufficient for me, I work on the embroidery of her dress: the graphics and the symbols will be mixed.
Maybe will you remember the dress of my « Chîrîn »?

Of course, the fact that my character is Saraï in particular explains my state of mind. Saraï / Sarah as the universal mother.
Please, have a little trip into the Bible, and study the beginning of the story of Abram and Saraï.
You will find probably numerous lessons which will come to enlighten essential questions which cross our lives. In particular the nature of connections between the women and the men. That is what I felt when I read those amazing texts.
