I am about to draw more than 10 sheets of sketches for this large painting. It is a long time I have not hesitated like that to organize a background composition. It is not the question of the format, but the question of the accordance between the topic, (Cabbalah), and the Jewish Tradition turning around the Temple.
The horse is already fixed on the canvas. The third drawing was the good one. The idea about the attitude of the horse was clear at the very first time, as you were able to see it on the previous article.
How will I symbolize the central column of the Temple? What this column represents for me in particular?
Helped by the Babylonian Talmud, (a selection of texts with explanations provided by specialists of course), I think I can try to give a personal vision of this central concept of the Jewish Mysticism.
My drawings are not finished yet: the background composition will approach the one of my first large « Missae Breves ». Metal sheets, and a lot of small and thin geometric flowers… I suppose…
It is a fact: painters do not draw anymore, don’t they? Days are rare I meet a draughtsman which is also a painter. Sometimes I offer the preliminary drawings with the painting sold. It is always a very special present for me. The customers always appreciate this.
